For me, Bridget Rawls Peterson, E-RYT 500 and yoga therapist, yoga has always been more than physical postures—it is a way to explore presence, cultivate resilience, and return to joy.

My journey began as a dancer, trained in the precision and discipline of movement. Dance taught me how to express through the body, but yoga taught me how to listen to it. Over two decades of teaching movement and yoga to diverse populations—children, professional dancers, seniors, and now individuals seeking therapeutic support—has shaped the heart of Lucky Elephant’s philosophy: yoga is for everybody and every stage of life. Lucky Elephant Yoga & Wellness began in New York as a thriving community hub before moving to North Carolina, where it now continues to grow as both a studio and a center for deeper wellness practices. Through our classes, teacher trainings, and yoga therapy programs, Lucky Elephant is committed to offering more than just physical asana. We provide students with tools for nervous system regulation, emotional balance, and cultivating inner stillness—skills that extend far beyond the mat. One of the most exciting ways we bring this philosophy to life is through yoga retreats and travel experiences. Stepping away from daily routines and immersing ourselves in nature and new surroundings offers a profound way to experience yoga’s deeper gifts. Travel has always inspired me; just as Vinyasa yoga links breath and movement, traveling mindfully links us to the rhythm of life in a new way. Our retreats are carefully curated to create balance—blending invigorating yoga practices with time for rest, reflection, and adventure. Mornings often begin with meditation and energizing Vinyasa or therapeutic movement, while afternoons might include restorative practices, somatic exploration, or guided journaling. Outside of practice, we explore local culture, enjoy nourishing meals, and embrace the unique beauty of each location. What sets Lucky Elephant retreats apart is the therapeutic and inclusive approach. As a yoga therapist, I design practices with intention, meeting participants where they are physically, mentally, and emotionally. Whether someone is an experienced yogi or stepping onto the mat for the first time, every retreat is an invitation to reconnect with oneself in a supportive and welcoming environment.At the heart of these experiences is community. Retreats bring together people who share a love for movement, wellness, and discovery.

Over the course of several days, friendships form, insights unfold, and participants often return home with not just stronger bodies, but lighter hearts and renewed perspectives.
